Rape in Kolkata

         Rape of a resident doctor has shook the nation. It was horrible as the details are emerging. Worse thing is the politics being played. Rather than showing empathy towards the resident doctors and the family of the victim a blame game is on. West Bengal being run by TMC and CM Mamta being bête noire of BJP especially of PM Narinder Modi and HM Amit Shah, they have now found a new stick to beat her. In this whole game of politics the real issue is lost. There is dire need to provide safe and secure work places, especially for women and punish the offenders through speedy trials. 

      Problem in our country is the politicisation of everything. Few years back, when a Dalit girl was raped and killed in Hathras, UP, ruled by BJP,  there was sudden quietness in the ruling party and the opposition upped the ante. Now it is vice versa. What happened thereafter, no one knows. Public has such a short memory. This incident shall also be forgotten.
